WORLD - PAY VITAL TO GEN Z WHILE DELAYED RESPONSES FROM RECRUITERS ARE A TURN-OFF

(Nov.29, 2019, /staffingindustry.com/)Pay is an important factor to members of Gen Z - those aged 16 to 25 — when deciding on a job, but delayed responses from recruiters are a turn-off. The data comes from survey results released Monday by Kronos, a workforce management software provider and Future Workplace, an HR executive network and research firm.

The survey included members of Gen Z from around the globe.

“If you want to be an employer of choice for Gen Z, compensate them fairly, ensure that they genuinely care about the job you’re hiring them for and provide them with the necessary training and flexibility so they can succeed without sacrificing their personal lives,” said Dan Schawbel, author and research director at Future Workplace.

The survey found that 54% cited pay as the most important consideration when applying for their first full-time job.

However, flexible-yet-stable schedules are important; 21% of GenZers want a consistent and predictable schedule, but 23% also want flexibility.

When recruiting members of Gen Z, delayed responses from recruiters are a major turn-off with 44% of respondents citing this as a concern (52% in India), according to the survey.

Other turn-offs include negative online reviews, 41%; application portals that are not mobile-friendly, 29%; and workplaces that have a “dated” feel, 24%.

Feedback is also sought once on the job. The survey found 50% of Gen Z members said they need constructive performance feedback, 44% want hands-on training, 44% want managers who listen and value their opinions, and 39% want the freedom to work independently.

In addition, 51% of Gen Z members said that doing work they enjoy or care about is as important as a paycheck.

The survey included 3,400 members of Gen Z across Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the UK and the US.
