25% OF ENTERPRISE AND MID-SIZED FIRMS SHIFTING PERMANENT ROLES TO CONTINGENT: RESEARCH

(Sep.30, 2019, /staffingindustry.com/)Research from Randstad Sourceright found that 25% of global enterprise and mid-sized companies are shifting permanent roles to contingent positions this year. The research also found that 55% of working professionals are more open to nontraditional work arrangements than they had been in the past.

  The research covered 17 countries.

“Businesses and people are thinking about work in a fundamentally different way,” said Rebecca Henderson, CEO of Randstad Global Businesses and executive board member. “In the same way just-in-time manufacturing has transformed the responsiveness and agility of the manufacturing industry, companies are now applying that thinking to talent management.”

Henderson noted that business can respond more quickly to changing environments and workers enjoy more flexibility when employers make a greater portion of their workforce contingent.

The research also found that 76% of business either definitely or probably will start use of a total talent model this year.

In addition, it found that automotive and manufacturing have the highest propensity to implement total talent management; 86% of talent leaders in those industries indicated they probably or definitely will do so over the next year. Automotive and manufacturing were followed by the life sciences and healthcare sector at 85% and banking and financial services at 76%.
